Duration of project: The project was completed within 5 weeks
Brief description of the project: The Grade 2 listed front brick and flint wall of the house suffered impact damage due to a vehicle impact. This caused significant damage to two parts of the wall and a built-in outhouse. The project was complex because the wall was grade 2 listed and also abutted a main road. This meant working closely with the local conservation officer and obtaining permission to close the road so we could work safely. There had been significant delays in starting the project before we came on board, and the owners were keen to move home as soon as possible. Once all permissions were in place and the materials approved by the conservation officer, we spent the next month clearing back the damaged wall, cleaning and setting aside any materials that could be reused and then rebuilding the two elevations of the wall and the outhouse. The wall was a brick-and-flint design, backfilled with rubble and finished with a tile top. We encountered several problems with the road closure, which made the site even more complex, but we were able to complete the work ahead of schedule.
