Duration of project: The project was completed within 4 months
Brief description of the project: The house suffered a fire due to a direct lightning strike. This resulted in significant damage to the property due to smoke and water damage. We stripped back the plasterboard and walls to the top floor and protected the areas within the ground floor. A fully engineered roofed scaffolding was installed before removing and rebuilding both gable walls, removing the tiled roof completely and replacing the damaged roof trusses with the roof, which were all significantly damaged by the lightning strike. This included removing and reinstating the loft insulation, the bathrooms, renewing electrics and plumbing, rebuilding the walls and plastering throughout the first floor. As well as decorating, flooring, new internal doors, skirtings and carpentry. We also made roof repairs to the attached tiled garage roof, which had been damaged by the debris from the incident. All smoke-damaged rooms were cleaned and thermal fogged.
How you delivered the service and customer satisfaction:We worked with our staff and carefully chosen subcontractors to complete the project within 4 months and in budget. We worked closely with the homeowners to ensure the work met their expectations, and they were satisfied at every stage of the process. The project was complex due to the significant structural damage from the lightning strike. We needed to remove the roof, place a ‘tin hat’ over the building to protect it from the elements, replace the roof trusses and rebuild both gable ends before reinstating the roof.
Successes: Completing the work on time and within budget for the clients
Client feedback: The Client was very happy with the work.
